The Legacy games are long, 10-generations where you start out with a single founder and very humble beginnings and try to lead the family to fame, fortune and success over the course of at least 10 generations.
Starting out
Create a brand new game file. You will be using this file exclusively to play your Legacy. Your Legacy family must immediately become the “Active Household” and not cease to be active for the duration of the game. You may select any neighborhood, I picked Dragon Valley.
The game begins with a single founder. Make this founder in Create A Sim. They may be male or female. You have full choice over their look, color and clothing. Custom content may be used if you like, including create-a-style custom patterns and colors. You may choose all 5 traits as well as their three favorite likes (food, music and color) and a lifetime want. No other sims may be created in the founder’s family.
Now to place the founder. All legacies start out with very humble beginnings and expect your founder to live like a hobo for awhile. Lot/House cost should be around $14,700, and should be a regular starting lot with no additions.
Rules:
No cheating, no Mods, except in the case of glitches. (like resetsim for a stuck sim) You may use custom objects, as long as their price and mood effects are in line with similar ‘official’ objects. Objects purchased from the Sim Store are considered ‘official’ as well as the ones included with the game.
Aging and story progression must be on and lifespans set to the normal or low end of long level. Max would be 120 days total.
The Legacy family must be the “Active Household” during the entire game. You may never switch the active household to another family.
Moving Sims in: Any sim may be moved into the Legacy Family via marriage or move-in. No sims/families may ever be merged into the Legacy family. If you wish to add members, they must be done in game. Allowed ONE cheat, and that is for name change of Founders partner (in my case I had to only marry my husband, ROFL but the rest of the character MUST remain as original. So my Lady had to find an outside sim, but was allowed to change his name to make my hubby happy.)
Generation: Order of birth in relation to the family at large. Your founder is generation 1, your founder’s son/daughter would be generation 2, the grandchildren of the founder would be generation 3 and so on.
Founder: The sim you create in CAS who starts the family.
Heir: The sim belonging to the family bloodline who is slated to bring in the next generation once he/she is old enough and finds a mate. A sibling of an heir, who can become an heir should anything happen to the current heir.
Fed to the time stream: Moving a controllable sim out of the legacy house. As there is a Max of 8 allowable in the Active any sim maybe moved out once they have fulled their goals, or in the case of too many children, some may move out but one child must always remain. It is best for game play for the elders once retired to move to a new location. It is also best to buy them a house if fund allow, than just kicking them out.
Legacy House: The lot initially moved into by your founder. You may Move to a new house once enough funds are available.
Bloodline: Any sim who can trace his or her family tree directly to the founder. Adopted sims are NOT part of the bloodline. Sims that are moved in are only considered part of the bloodline when they contribute to the birth of the next generation.
Mate: A sim brought in from outside the family to reproduce with the current generation’s heir to produce the next generation. You are also not allowed to change their goals or traits.
Birth and growing up: Whenever a sim is born or ages up, they will often obtain new traits. Sometimes these traits are randomly assigned by the game. Other times the game lets you pick them. You must play any random trait the way they are.
Death: Sims that die on the family lot may be kept around as ghosts, or may be moved to a family plot. If a sims dies off the lot, you must locate their gravestone and either bring it to the lot or place on the family plot.
Bringing in the next generation: In order to bring in the next generation, a new sim must be born. You may pick which ever sim you would like from that generation you like to be the heir. You must move their mate into the legacy family house before having a baby. This also means if you don’t have room for the mate you must move out someone else.
Lifetime Goal: Lifetime wishes and Aspirations of each sim in the Direct Line, if not all Sims, should be achieved if possible. There are 32 unique lifetime wishes in the game, so each sim heir should have unique one if your allowed to pick one. Meaning if you picked one before you can’t pick it again.
Jobs and Professions: Each sim heir should have unique job or profession if your allowed to pick one. Meaning if you picked one before you can’t pick it again.
Building Houses and Commercial lots: All building is encouraged.
Portraits: Sims must be of Young Adult or older and living on the Legacy Lot at the time of painting.
Story Teller: Write a story for your Legacy family and upload it in chapters. Use pictures if you have them. I have started mine.
