During midday the gallant King of Hearts does appear in a whirl,
In one hand a single rose and the other a necklace with a single pearl.

The King whispers the words and tries to profess,
I am not a romantic sort with any success.

Then he smiles softly and says the pearl is for the first year with you as my wife,
I will love you forever and I am glad you came into my life.

And a quickly as he came into the Queen’s place,
He was gone like the wind without a trace.

Later that eve when the moon was so clear.
The Queen drove up to the Castle that was near,

The Queen glided up the steps with delight,
As her King and her lover awaited inside with passions that night.

Again the King whispers the words and tries to profess,
I am not a romantic sort with any success

Then he smiles softly and touches the pearl around her sweet throat
and says this pearl is for the first year with you as my wife.
Then from behind him, he does show, the rest of his tote
And this string of pearls is for the rest of our life.
