After The movie came out my mother-in-law told me that we were related to Thomas Andrews and that she has known all her life. She never mentioned it to me in the 10 years ive been related to her. We saw the movie together and she said before it started “Oh I’m sure Thomas Andrews will be mentioned” Soon to find out that His character was so loved and a big part! My mother-in-law is an Andrews. Marjorie Andrews. Her Grandpas first cousin was Thomas. Marjorie married Howard East and I married their son Howard the 3d. Ever since finding out this family history Ive been fasinated with “The ship of Dreams”

I am personally related to four Titanic passengers, like the Astors, Robert Williams Daniel, and the great Thomas Andrews. The Astors are in laws of my 6th cousins 6 times removed of the 2nd great grandparents of the husband of my 3rd cousin 7 times removed. Robert comes from the same bloodline as the father in law of my 3rd cousin 7 times removed. Thomas Andrews had the same bloodline as I do from English Royalty, which makes him my 23rd cousin 10 times removed. Some people I know say that I bore a resemblance of Thomas the most. What I have known about the Astors was that the wife, her nurse, and her maid were safely put into a lifeboat through a window on the A Deck. The husband stayed behind and had a smoke with an author, Jacques Futrelle, but they both had to free a lifeboat. Unfortunately, a falling funnel took their lives. Robert saw Captain Smith standing in the bridge at the helm, waiting to meet his fate. A steward, ironically named John Stewart, saw Thomas meeting his fate in the lounge room before the ship split apart.

I am distant cousins of the Astors, Robert Williams Daniel, and Thomas Andrews. People I know say that I have the resemblance of Thomas the most. For the stories, I know that Madeleine Astor was safely put in lifeboat four with her maid and nurse. John Jacob Astor IV put the women in the boat with his valet and John had a smoke with an author, Jacques Futrelle. They had to free a lifeboat, but a funnel took their lives. Robert survived the sinking and he saw Captain Smith in the bridge awaiting his fate. Thomas was last seen by a man named John Stewart in the lounge. Stewart said that Thomas was looking at Plymouth Harbour above a fireplace and asks, “Won’t you make a try for it, Mr. Andrews?” I hope that the victims and the late survivors are enjoying the peace they have now.
