{"id":22,"date":"2018-11-26T00:48:31","date_gmt":"2018-11-26T06:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ladykathleen.com\/poetry\/?p=22"},"modified":"2019-02-25T20:39:30","modified_gmt":"2019-02-25T20:39:30","slug":"oldest-memories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ladykathleen.com\/poetry\/oldest-memories\/","title":{"rendered":"Oldest Memories"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p>I<\/p>\n<p>Oldest memories of a time long ago<br \/>\nI thought was just a dream set aglow.<\/p>\n<p>Water surrounds the world I see<br \/>\nand it was closing in on me.<\/p>\n<p>The red of blood through waters deep<br \/>\ndraw closer now with no sound to speak.<\/p>\n<p>A symbol now is what does reveal and spark<br \/>\nA wavy shape, I see, of two white crossed marks.<\/p>\n<p>II<\/p>\n<p>If not a dream, then what memory<br \/>\nAnd what does this memory mean?<\/p>\n<p>The truth be known in later years<br \/>\nThat it was a memory with tears.<\/p>\n<p>My oldest memories that haunts me to this day<br \/>\nIs of a time where death called but I got away.<\/p>\n<p>For I fell into a pool as a young baby of three<br \/>\nAnd to the bottom sinking down soft and free.<\/p>\n<p>As a gallant man jumped in to save the young lass<br \/>\nAnd he wore swimming trunks of red with white crosses<\/p>\n<p>A thing that was in my mind now and then<br \/>\nthat would haunt me for all time and again.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Poem Style &#8211; Rhyme \/ Poem Catagory &#8211; Personal<br \/>\nWritten by Lady Kathleen<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>The Gallant man was my Dad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I Oldest memories of a time long ago I thought was just a dream set aglow.
