The Pearl
| During midday the gallant King of Hearts does appear in a whirl, In one hand a single rose and the other a necklace with a single pearl. The King whispers the words and tries to profess, Then he smiles softly and says the pearl is for the first year with you as my wife, And a quickly as he came into the Queen’s place, Later that eve when the moon was so clear. The Queen glided up the steps with delight, Again the King whispers the words and tries to profess, Then he smiles softly and touches the pearl around her sweet throat |
